Kenya Karate Federation ( KKF) has confirmed that Nairobi will play host to the upcoming 14-country, Region East Competition scheduled for May 28- 31, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Revealing the news exclusively to Radio Generation on Tuesday, KKF president Eng. Richard Binga, while in Nairobi, said that this milestone event reflects Kenya’s growing strength in karate and its ability to host world-class competitions.
"Athletes, coaches, and officials from 14 African countries will gather for the Cadets, Junior, and Senior championships, an event that once again shows Kenya's ability to host massive tournaments," Binga told Radio Generation.
"Our aim is to win all medals on home soil; it's not an impossibility, it's just a mental challenge that my athletes can welcome and conquer," said Binga.
With top officials from World Karate Federation (WKF ) and UFAK, alongside high-level referee and Coaches training course, the championship promises impact both on and off the tatami.
This regional championship comes after KKF on April 11 this year at the Technical University of Kenya(TUK), Nairobi, which had partnered with karatekas to the Warriors of the Savannah Karate Camp, a Karate Master Class, that involved powerful training experiences led by Chief Technical Director, 7th Dan Scott Langley from Scotland.
HDKI-Kenya Chief Technical Director Joshua Oude Sensei, together with KKF Assistant Technical Director Sensei Wesonga and the HDKI-Kenya team, have also reiterated a strong message from the Karate federation, with a main objective to empower and enlighten Karatekas in Kenya, not just with international and local competitions, but also through seminars.
